Call me Virgil.

For writers who want feedback, not a ghostwriter.

Paste a scene, chapter opening, essay section, poem, or fragment. Virgil reads it closely and responds with observations and questions, not rewritten prose.

An AI reader for drafts, not an AI writer.

Virgil will ask what you're working on, then you'll paste your draft.

  1. Tell Virgil what you're working on.
  2. Paste a focused excerpt.
  3. Get close-reading feedback.

I'm inspired by Daily Themes, one of the oldest continuously taught writing courses in the country, offered at Yale College since about 1901. For generations, it has sent writers to their desks with one instruction: write regularly, bring the work back, and let a thoughtful reader tell you what they see.

The tutors didn't rewrite your work. They read it closely, noticed what was alive, noticed what was unresolved, and asked the questions that sent you back in.

That's what I do.

I won't do the writing for you. That part has always been yours.

Call me Virgil
First, tell Virgil a little about the piece — what you're working on and what you're hoping to explore. Then you'll paste your draft. Your free workshop includes one feedback response and two follow-up questions.
